Crazy Man! Er... I Mean Crazy Cake!

Back in the dark ages of the 1970's, the girls in seventh grade at Lake Placid Central School took Home Economics while the boys took Industrial Arts. Our Home Ec teacher, Mrs. Shirley Whalley, taught us how to follow recipes by teaching us how to bake.

Mrs. Whalley
The first recipe she taught us was Crazy Cake. It is completely made in one pan - no bowls, and it does not contain eggs. Maybe that is how it got its name.

This recipe was taught to about twenty 11- and 12-years-old all at the same time, so this is a perfect recipe to make with children. From experience, I know it can be made by children age five and up with, maybe, a final stirring by an adult.

Today's cake is for my friend Helen's birthday. Although there is no need to frost Crazy Cake, I will be adding peanut butter frosting, because she requested it.
